YOU'LL NEED:

• 2 mm hook
• Stitch marker
• Scissors
• Tapestry needle
• Stuffing
• Yarn (I used Yarn Art Jeans)

ABBREVIATIONS:

MR – Magic ring
ch – Chain
fch – Foundation chain
sc – Foundation chain
Single crochet
inc – Single crochet increase
dec – Single crochet decrease
hdc – Half double crochet
dc – Double crochet
slst – Slip stitch
[...] – Number of stitches in the round
(...) x n – Repeat n times

 

CONSTRUCTION:

Legs, arms, tail, ears, tongue, muzzle, nose, and eyes are crocheted separately at first.
However, the toy requires only minimal sewing during assembly, as several parts are attached while crocheting.

The toy is worked in continuous rounds in a spiral, without closing each round.

Size of the finished toy is approximately 3.5 inches (9 cm) tall when using a 2 mm hook.


ARMS x 2

Start With Yellow
Rnd 1   MR 5 sc [5]
Rnd 2 - 8  
5 sc (7 rounds) [5]

Fold the piece and make 2 sc through both layers. 
Cut the yarn and pull the tail completely. Make the 2nd arm.

 

LEGS x 2

With Yellow
Ch 4 (The 1st round will be worked around the fch.) 
         Start from 2nd ch from the hook 

Rnd 1   2 sc, 3 sc in the next loop, sc, inc [8]
Rnd 2  
Inc, sc, 3 inc, 3 sc [15]

Make 3 sc, then count 6 stitches backwards (to the right) and place a stitch marker in that stitch.


This will be the new end of the round. Fold the piece in half, skip the 9 stitches in between just once, and continue working only in the remaining 6 stitches.

 

Rnd 3 - 8   6 sc (6 rounds) [6]
Rnd 9  
2 sc, sl st [3]

Cut the yarn and pull the tail completely. Make the 2nd leg. Close the opening on the both legs using a yellow yarn and a needle.

 

CHEEKS

With Yellow

For the cheeks, follow the arm pattern for 5 rounds.
Cut the yarn, leaving a 6" (15 cm) tail.
Thread the tail through the front loops of the 5 stitches and pull to close.
Weave in the end.

 

TAIL

With Yellow
Ch 6   Start from 2nd ch from the hook 

Row 1   Sl st, 4 sc [5]

Leave a tail for sewing. Fasten off and cut the yarn. Pull the yarn tail completely.

 

EARS x 2, TOUNGE

With Yellow
Ch 3 (The 1st round will be worked around the fch.) 
         Start from 2nd ch from the hook 

Rnd 1   Sc, 3 sc in the next loop, sc [5]

Cut the yarn, pull the tail completely. 
Tie a knot with the yarn tails. Make the second ear.
Using the same pattern, make the tongue with the pink yarn.
Cut about 4 inches (10 cm) of black yarn and separate it into strands. Use one strand. Insert it through the center of the piece and tie it securely.

 

NOSE

With Black
Ch 3   Start from 2nd ch from the hook 

Row 1   2 sc [2]

 Cut the yarn, insert the tail into the needle and close the oval.

 

EYES BASE X 2

Start with Black
Rnd 1   MR 8 dc [8]

Cut the yarn, close the circle with the yarn tail.
Make the second eye base using the same pattern.

 

PUPIL

Start with White

Rnd 1   MR 8 hdc [8]

Cut the yarn, insert the tail into the needle and close the circle.
Make the pupil for the second eye with the same pattern.

Start With Yellow

Rnd 8   8 sc, attach the ear with 3 sc, 15 sc, attach the ear with 3 sc, 6 sc [35]
Rnd 9 - 12   35 sc (4 rounds) [35]
Rnd 13   9 sc, attach the arm with 3 sc, 15 sc, attach the arm with 3 sc, 5 sc [35]

Fasten off. Thread the yarn tail through the front loops of the last 7 stitches and pull to close. Weave in the end.
Sew the pupils onto the bases. Then sew the eyes between rounds 7 and 12.
Sew the tongue between rounds 11 and 12, centered between the eyes.
Sew the muzzle and nose.
Sew the tail between rounds 19 and 20.
